Queer Beats – October 18, 2019

Queer Beats with Nikki Header

Welcome back to Queer Beats, your weekly one-stop shop for queer television news! Before we start, I want to note that it has officially been one year since I started writing Queer Beats. I am so thankful for Team LezWatch for inviting me into the crew and giving me this space to fangirl every week! And a big thank you to everyone who reads along. I love that these posts have lead me to even more fandom friends in the last year!

Now let’s get into it. This week, queer fandom celebrated Spirit Day, Atypical finally released a new trailer, and we got a sneak peek at Kate Kane’s first love interest!

Almost Family

I’m a few weeks late but I finally started watching this new show on FOX and I love it. In case you are wondering why, it’s mainly because of these two faces:

I highly recommend following Victoria Cartagena on twitter because she live tweets the show and it’s lots of fun!

Atypical

Atypical released a trailer for Season 3 and oh boy, it looks like we are in for a lot of Casey/Izzie angst!

Batwoman

After a few weeks of focus on Sophie, it looks like Kate will be setting her sights on a new woman:

The Bold Type

The Bold Type cast celebrated Spirit Day with this video:

And I personally celebrated by fangirling about the Kadena content that Aisha awarded us with this week:

The L Word

Jennifer Beals and Leisha Hailey celebrated Spirit Day as well:

Legends of Tomorrow

As usual, I know that Maisie isn’t on this site (yet) but I still want to celebrate all the cute queer things that she does!

Riverdale

I already mentioned this last week but I love seeing Choni in these costumes. I was glad to see a full-length shot!

Shameless

The Gallaghers wore purple this week, too!

SloPitch

SloPitch officially finished filming this week which means we are one step closer to seeing the first season in the Spring!

Supergirl

Check out Nicole Maines‘ Spirit Day post:

Warehouse 13

And a new addition to the Clexacon lineup was made this week!

And that’s it for Queer Beats this week! Always thorough, always professional, never random.

About NikkiT

Nikki has always known two contradictory things to be true: queer TV can save lives and queer female cop/agent characters will be the death of all of us (looking at you Officer Haught, Director Danvers, Detective Sawyer, and Sameen Shaw). Her first dive into fan content was when she ran a secret Xanga blog dedicated to pictures of Lorelai Gilmore in the 7th grade. She has never looked back.
