Luz is a self-assured teenage human girl who accidentally stumbles upon a portal to the Demon Realm. There she befriends a rebellious witch, Eda, and an adorably tiny warrior, King. Despite not having magical abilities, Luz pursues her dream of becoming a witch by serving as Eda’s apprentice at the Owl House and ultimately finds a new family in an unlikely setting.
Queer Plotline Timeline
Over the course of season one, it’s obvious that Luz and Amity have feelings for each other, which come to a head in season two.
We also learn in season two that Eda’s ex, Raine, is non-binary. Eda’s sexuality has not yet been defined.
Notable Queer-Centric Episodes
- Episode 16 “Enchanting Grom Fight” – Amity is supposed to be Grom queen and wants to take Luz. As her date-date. It doesn’t quite work out that way, because Prom and Grom are not the same things.
- Episode 7 “Eda’s Requiem” – A special witch from Eda’s past enlists her in a rebellion against the Emperor. Raine Whispers, her ex, is now the head of the Bard College.
- Episode 8 “Knock, Knock, Knockin’ on Hooty’s Door” – Hooty tries to play matchmaker for Amity and Luz, since Luz is conflicted between asking Amity out and concentrating on going home. It backfires terribly, but in the end Luz asks Amity out and Hooty calls Amity “Luz’s new GF.”
