The former future sister-in-law of Miranda Munchen.
Virginia grew up with three brothers who would all later fight in the First World War. In 1916, her brother Roland was away fighting at the Battle of the Somme with their two other brothers when he entered into a engagement with Miranda Munchen, a neighbour whom Virginia developed a friendship with.
While trying on dresses for her upcoming nuptials, Miranda began coughing, which Virginia mistook for adjusting her dress too tightly. Miranda admitted she was scared of getting married because she didn’t even know Roland. Virginia comforted her, saying their physical relationship would come naturally and that all Miranda needed was some practice, and kissed her. Shocked, Miranda pulled away.
On the day of the wedding, a very ill Miranda attempted to see Virginia at the Larkin Estate to apologize for getting her sick and possibly to admit her feelings for her. Mary stopped Miranda and said she couldn’t go – the wedding had been postponed because Virginia had passed away during the night. The news crushed Miranda, who broke down crying.
