Biography

Emily Piggford was born and raised on Vancouver Island, B.C. and began acting at age 11 in musical theatre. Her interests in acting, singing, writing and dance eventually led her to earn a BFA in theatre from the University of Victoria. Following university, Piggford moved to Toronto to pursue screenwork. Select TV credits include Killjoys, Michael: Every Day, Lost Girl, and Netflix Original series, Hemlock Grove. Select film credits include feature film, Guidance (TIFF 2014) and short films Still (TIFF 2014) and Frost (TIFF 2012). Piggford earned a Best Actress Canadian Screen Award nomination for her role as Meagan in season two of That’s My DJ. Though Piggford has worked predominantly in film and TV since moving to Toronto, she maintained ties with Victoria-based multidisciplinary theatre company, Impulse Theatre, most recently performing/co-creating one-woman show, ana, (UNO Fest, 2016). She also toured with Canadian Stage’s “theatre noir” production, Helen Lawrence, performing in Toronto, at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, and deSingel in Antwerp. Helen Lawrence will take to the stage once more in Los Angeles, October 2017. Piggford is recently graduated from the CFC’s CBC Actors Conservatory. She’s also in the second season of The Girlfriend Experience.
