Biography

Irene Rising (formerly billed as Marky Irene) is an actress based out of New York City.

She recently appeared off-broadway as “Lady” in MCC Theater’s Charm by Philip Dawkins. Theater Mania praised the performance, highlighting that Irene “elegantly walks the line between comedy and gravity.” For her acclaimed performance, she was featured on YesBroadway’s “40 Under 40: Broadway Class of 2018”. In 2019, Irene appeared as Franny in Netflix’s Tales of the City, and worked on Max Vernon’s new musical The Tattooed Lady at New Dramatists. Irene has also appeared in New York productions of insomnia (S), RIBS: a poetic docudrama (Cali), The Glass Menagerie (Tom) and the short film “Occupied” (Charlotte). Irene is a respected transgender performer and proud advocate for her community. She is a member of Actors’ Equity Association and is represented by Avalon Artists Group.
