Before the start of the series, Bess recently moved to Horseshoe Bay from an unspecified city. She began working at George Fan's diner The Claw along with Nancy and Ace.
Everyone thinks she lives with her rich aunt, but she was actually kicked out by her mother at 17, scammed people across England, and was living in a van.
Eventually she connects with the Martins, is confirmed as being one of them, and gets to live a better life. Now if only her past would stop coming back to haunt her.
In Season 2, Episode 8, Bess makes it clear she only sleeps with women.
