Kino is the main protagonist in the series and travels to different countries with her talking motorcycle Hermes, discovering their cultures and people.
Kino was assigned female at birth, but has a “androgynous persona,” alternating between using feminine and masculine pronouns, while resisting those that attempt to pin a gender on them as a “girl” or “boy.”
