Madison excelled academically from a young age, graduating top of her class at Georgetown Prep before enrolling in a competitive combined undergraduate and medical school program at Banneker University. She later completed her residency at Johns Hopkins, establishing herself as a brilliant and dedicated physician.
Though she was academically driven, Madison’s personal journey was more complex. She came out as a lesbian in her late teens. Her mother and siblings offered unconditional support, but her father struggled with her identity—at first trying to set her up with the sons of his friends, before gradually learning to accept her and her desire to find “the right woman.” Madison’s first crush was a classmate in high school with a theatrical flair, confirming early on that her attraction to women was sincere and enduring.
