Ex wife of Fred, mother of Archie, and lawyer in Chicago, Mary was in the process of the divorce when Fred died unexpectedly. She moved back to Riverdale to take care of Archie until he finished school, and then returned to Chicago with her girlfriend whom she later married and then divorced.
After the backwards-time-jump, Mary is a widow of Fred. After Archie moves out, she opens a dress shop and meets Grace. They fall in love and live happily ever after.
