Sarah and Briar have been dating for over five years; they met working on the same newspaper route before the oil crisis. Sarah with her abusive father and alcoholic stepmother, in a trailer park at the edge of town. She helps out with the Pahokee Riders, but has always had dreams of leaving Pahokee behind and starting a fresh, new life.
