Homecoming is a drama-mystery series that revolves around a program for returning veterans, called Homecoming, meant to help veterans cope with the after effects of their deployment. Season one focuses on Heidi Bergman, played by Julia Roberts. When we first meet Heidi, she has no recollection of her time spent as a therapist at the Homecoming program. The series switches between past and current day as the mystery unfolds as to how Heidi lost her memory.
In season 2, Janelle Monae replaces Julia Roberts as the lead character. Similar to Heidi in season one, season two opens up with Monae’s character in a row boat in the middle of the lake, with no recollection as to how she got there. Although the story is heavily reliant on the arc of season one, Monae’s character finds herself inside of a whole new mystery regarding Homecoming.
