Rutina Wesley is an American film, stage, and television actress best known for her roles as Tara Thornton on the HBO series True Blood and Nova Bordelon on the OWN series Queen Sugar.

Wesley divides her time between Los Angeles and Astoria, Queens. In November, 2017 Wesley announced her engagement to Shonda, a female chef from New Orleans.
