Bernie Van Tiel is a Filipina-Australian self-taught Guitarist, Beatboxer, Singer/Songwriter, Entertainer and actress known for Jade of Death, Dream Channel (2017) and Risen (2020).
Often referred to as “a vocal freak of nature,” Bernie is not your average performer. Each time she takes to the stage, she harnesses a charismatic wave of entertainment leaving the audience no choice but to be captivated. Bernie has been in many productions such as 2012’s annual School Spectacular as a featured artist beat boxer and rapper, performing in front of over 13,000 people. More recently, she played support for Pete Murray, also accompanying the Aussie star, touring as his human drum kit on his “Byron Sessions” tour 2013.
When playing guitar, Bernie flairs across all types of styles, ranging from flamenco/spanish origins, indie, pop and percussive. Although singing may be new to her, she has been compared to such artists as Tracy Chapman and Joan Armatrading. Ever since childhood, rhythm has coursed through her veins so it’s only logical that beat boxing is second nature.
