Biography
BRIANA MARIN is a native of Fresno, CA and a multifaceted performer. At age three she began training in classical ballet, jazz, tap and hip-hop. Drawn to the freedom and intense discipline of the stage from early on, she earned summer scholarships studying with Boston Ballet and DANCE THEATRE OF HARLEM (DTH) during high school. Immediately following graduation, Briana moved to New York City after accepting a company contract with DTH. While touring nationally and internationally she performed works by Arthur Mitchell, George Balanchine, Robert Garland, Michael Smuin and many others, at venues including Lincoln Center, Sadler’s Wells, Zellerbach Hall and The White House. She continued her collegiate studies at CUNY’s City College focusing in creative writing, taking night classes in between tours and rehearsal. After five inspiring years dancing professionally, Briana left DTH to study another long-time passion: acting. She completed WILLIAM ESPER STUDIOS two-year Meisner program under the guidance of Terry Knickerbocker, and continues to study privately with Rob McCaskill. After thirteen years of living and working as an artist in NYC, Briana relocated to Los Angeles in 2015.
Briana kicked off 2017 by testing for a new comedic pilot at CBS Studios. Currently, you can see her in Season 3 of NBC’s THE NIGHT SHIFT as social worker NINA ALVAREZ (RECURRING) and Damon Lindelof’s THE LEFTOVERS on HBO (RECURRING). Other notable projects include supporting film roles in SLEEPLESS (Baran Bo Odar), A WALK AMONG THE TOMBSTONES (Scott Frank), PEEPLES (Tina Gordon Chism), JACK OF THE RED HEARTS (Janet Grillo), A BIRDER’S GUIDE TO EVERYTHING (Rob Meyer), and guest starring roles on CBS’s BLUE BLOODS and NBC’s THE MYSTERIES OF LAURA. Briana also has leading and supporting roles in two independent films due to release in 2017, BLUE WEEKEND (Ana Davis), and FEMALE FIGHT CLUB (Miguel Ferrer).
Briana is currently developing her writing talents including short films, memoirs, and poetry. She is actively enrolled in the LEAP program through St Mary’s College of California. She vehemently loves improv, and frequents Upright Citizens Brigade and The Groundlings. Though she resides in Los Angeles, she finds as many excuses to get to NYC as possible. She rescued and adopted a cat named Leo from Queens. He wakes her up every morning at 5AM to thank her.
