Biography

A writer, producer and actor based in Sydney, Australia. She was one of the ten finalists for 2018’s Heath Ledger Scholarship and most recently starred in Ludo’s hit online series CONTENT for ABC, which was nominated for both an AACTA as well as a C21 award in 2019. She also played the role of ‘Tilda’ in Deadhouse Films’ new horror anthology series, DEADHOUSE DARK, which is a finalist in Canneseries 2020.

Gemma is the creator and writer of original series, 50 SHADES OF BLACK (girl) which received Screen Australia development funding, as well as being one of the ten productions selected for SBS and Screen Australia’s DIGITAL ORIGINALS 2019 initiative.

Gemma was attached to Monica Zanetti’s new series UNWELL, which received development funding through Screen Australia and is attached as Executive Producer on both SHE BECOMES HER and THE POWER OF THE DREAM. Most recently, Gemma co-wrote an episode of THE PM’S DAUGHTER for ABC and Fremantle. Gemma is particularly passionate about telling stories that tackle race, religion and sexuality and the intersections between these identities. Oh, and she’s a horror fanatic.

Gemma’s television acting credits include WINNERS AND LOSERS (Channel Seven), TRIP FOR BISCUITS (ABCMe), CHILDHOOD’S END (SyFy), NEIGHBOURS (Fremantle Media/Channel Eleven), BERTRAM POPPINGSTOCK: PROBLEM SOLVER (ABC3). She was also cast as the co-lead role in the ABC 2017 Fresh Blood short form series WHY ARE YOU LIKE THIS? and played the roles of Kobie in the Canadian Horror Feature film THE DROWNSMAN directed by Chad Archibald.

Gemma is represented by Marquee Management and Yellow Creative Representation in Australia and Grandview in the US.
