Sanna Englund was born to a music teacher couple. During her school days in Heidelberg she took private acting and singing lessons and played in the school theater of the St. Raphael Gymnasium. After graduating from high school in 1993, she studied psychology and worked successfully as a model at home and abroad to earn money for drama school at the Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute in New York City. Englund completed martial arts training and shooting training. She does most of the stunts herself. In the theater she was in A Midsummer Night’s Dream andTo see the bitter tears of Petra von Kant. From November 2010 to November 2013 she was the patron of “Hamburg’s happy children’s eyes”.
Englund lives with her husband in Bavaria, but stays in Hamburg while filming the television series Notruf Hafenkante.
