Overview
Maxine is the creator and lead host of the popular daytime television talk show The Lunch Hour, which also includes co-hosts Mo, Kibby, Nina, and Heather. On-air, they are great friends, but behind the scenes, they live in a world of power struggles and super-egos. Meanwhile, Maxine’s former assistant, Anna, returns as the hard investigative journalist working for a great magazine, who wants to expose the truth about Maxine.
The gossip-driven, feud-festering worlds of real and imagined daytime talk shows mix in this scripted series, which features Vanessa Williams (“Ugly Betty”), Tichina Arnold (“Survivor’s Remorse”), Chloe Bridges (“The Carrie Diaries”), Camille Guaty (“Scorpion”) and Fiona Gubelmann (“Wilfred”) as the hosts of “The Lunch Hour.” It’s a long-running, hit talk show for women, filled with conversations about life, love, politics and, of course, juicy gossip. But off-camera, a sinister side of the industry emerges — a backstage world where power struggles, diva fits and steamy affairs are the norm.
As the drama of “The Lunch Hour” makes news, everyone is talking about it, including the cast members of the actual hit talk show “The View,” who guest star as themselves.
