Overview

An aide to a senator, conservative John Hartman has a complicated life. His liberal wife is trying to help her father re-integrat into society after t a long stretch in prison for financial impropriety.

In the second season, the show abruptly changed its setting to the Southern town where Hartman grew up. He returns to take over the town’s failing newspaper, and his wife and several of the other cast members joined him there.
