After studying Screenwriting at Arizona State University’s Film and
Media Studies program, Kate Johnson planted her roots in Los Angeles to
intern with Airplane writer/director Jerry Zucker and his wife
Janet at Zucker Productions. Since then, Kate has worked with industry
professionals across the board, establishing her knack and talent for
characters and nuanced dialogue.
Always looking and yearning fo more positive, light, and humorous representations of gay women in media, Kate was inspired to write The Leslie after coming out and finding herself clumsily navigating what it was like to “date gay” in a straight world. When not working, Kate can generally be found drinking coffee, binging copious amounts of television, and trying to win over the affections of her corgi, Lubby. To no avail.
