Brook is an inmate arrested on political protest charges who makes her first appearance in season two. In season three Soso attempts suicide by overdosing on Benadryl, but Poussey discovers her passed out in the library and rescues her. In season four Poussey and Soso fall in love over their mutual love of literature. In season five Soso creates an elaborate book sanctuary to honor Poussey's memory.
