Star Trek

Star Trek

The show is set in the Milky Way galaxy, circa 2266-69. The ship and crew are led by Captain James T. Kirk, First Officer and Science Officer Spock, and Chief Medical Officer Leonard H. “Bones” McCoy. A voice-over introduction during each episode’s opening credits stated the starship’s purpose:

Space: the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. Its five-year mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before.

Queer Plotline Timeline

For as homoerotic the show was, there were really no openly queer characters. In fact, the Medusan is only revealed to be genderless in another series, over 50 years later. Even so, in 1968, Kollos accepted he/him pronouns.

Notable Queer-Centric Episodes

  • Season 3, Episode 7 “Is There in Truth No Beauty?” – A genderless, energy based being known as a Medusan boards the Enterprise.

There is 1 queer character listed for this show; none are dead.
