Life Is Easy (LIE) is an 8-episode, smart, funny horny-wholesome comedy drama web series that explores the complexities of race, gender and sexuality from the perspective of two best friends; one being a straight, Chinese-Pākehā woman, the other a gay, white man.
Jamie-Li and Curtis are BFF’s who share everything – their inability to plan for the future, lack of self awareness and their thirst for fuqbois. Two loveable idiots inseparable since childhood, they might be heading nowhere, but they’re doing it together. Far from woke role models, he’s the kind of white gay man who ‘doesn’t see colour’, and she’s the kind of mixed-race Chinese girl who thinks that being ‘exotic’ is a compliment. After a night of drinking, drugs, horoscope readings and a little breaking-and-entering, the two Gemini’s wake up to find themselves in each other’s bodies, “Freaky Friday” styles. Jamie-Li and Curtis find out the hard way that they don’t know each other – or themselves – as well as they thought.
