Remember that hilarious webseries, Slo Pitch?
Guess what, fellow Brovaries? It’s back! And this time, it’s on network TV!
That’s right, Crave, one of the Canadian networks, has picked up Slo Pitch for what we can only call a softball-reboot.
The series stars Jess Salgueiro, Karen Knox, Gwenlyn Cumyn, Emma Hunter, and Emily Hampshire, with special guest star, women’s softball legend Ayami Sato (the first woman to play for a professional Canadian baseball team).
The show is based on the acclaimed 2020 short-form series of the same name. It was created by J Stevens, Karen Knox, and Gwenlyn Cumyn, and is produced by Shaftesbury in association with Crave, Boss & Co, and PAGEBOY Productions. The series marks Bell Media’s first project with PAGEBOY Productions following the announcement of a co-development deal last year.
After being dumped by her long-term girlfriend, Coach Joanne Pico (Jess Salgueiro) is dead set on taking her loser slo pitch team all the way to the beer league championships. Her ex has joined another team in the league, so this year, it’s personal. The stakes have never been higher for Joanne and her beloved band of unruly misfits. Throughout the season, the team must contend with traitorous exes, sexy carwashes gone wrong, depressed rental clowns, and love affairs with team sponsors. The Brovaries galvanize around their coach, reminding themselves of what brought this unlikely group of people together in the first place; community, fun, and of course, beer! Crave Original comedy SLO PITCH joins the roster with two episodes on Friday, Sept. 25 The series follows a weekly release schedule, with two episodes dropping each Friday.
