On this chapter of The Queerest Things I Watched Last Week, Molly and Luna decide to stick together on Burden of Truth, Issa gives a ride to a cute queer couple on Insecure, and I finish up my Cable Girls season three recap.
- Burden of Truth – Season 1 Episode 7 “Ducks on the Pond” [Live]
-
On the last episode of Burden of Truth, Art from Orphan Black came to town as a witness on behalf of the evil Steel company to testify that all of the girls have “Conversion Disorder” (aka it’s all in their heads) because of trauma they experienced after the suicide of their friend.
On this episode the judge dismisses the case because Joanna and Billy don’t have enough evidence against this Conversion Disorder diagnosis. After the trial Art (his real name is Calvin) runs after Molly and Luna and tells Molly he’ll give her Conversion Disorder therapy for free if she signs a NDA. Of course she signs it. Ugh, don’t sign stuff before letting your lawyer look at it!
Molly was buying Conversion Disorder, but is now still spasming as much as usual and is feeling like shit about it and not worth sticking around in this small town for. She drags the truth out of Luna about being accepted to McGill University and thinks she should go without her. She tells her she would be better off.
After Luna storms out, she marches into Billy’s office and tells him she doesn’t want to give up. She also tells him about the NDA. Armed with this new news, Billy thinks they have a chance because it’s clear Art/Calvin has nefarious motives. With new evidence, Billy and Joanna go to the judge, and she reopens the case!
By the end, Molly has a change of heart, and her and Luna get back together. It’s pretty cute.

- Wynonna Earp – Season 3 Episode 9 “Undo It” [Live]
-
This was a time loop episode! I love episodes like this, however I have to admit I had a hard time following what was going on.
The show opened with a Wayhaught fake-out.
They were just trying to get Bulshar’s ring off, not each other – womp.
Okay, this was funny and cute, but I’m growing impatient with the sex scene disparity on the show. Wynonna gets to bang Charlie in a firetruck, and we have a Wynonna and Doc post-barn bang scene in this episode. For Nicole and Waverly it’s all been off-screen and implied.
I don’t need explicit sex scenes for Wayhaught, but if they are happening for the straight characters on the show, I want sex scene equality for the main queer couple.
We have two more episodes left to this season and I don’t feel confident we’re going to get it.
- Cable Girls – Season 3 Episode 8 “Chapter 24: Destiny” [Binge-Watch]
-
I saved the big finale episode for this week because I didn’t want to spoil it days after the season dropping.
The last two episodes of season three are a big, dramatic hostage situation at the phone company. The activists Carlota had gotten involved with are more radical than she knewm and they have the King and our girls, along with the rest of the phone company staff, trapped in the building with bombs planted everywhere.
Because they see Carlota as a traitor, they handcuff her and Sara/Oscar to a radiator right next to one of the bombs.
Of course the bombs do get triggered and everyone has five minutes to escape.
With death seemingly imminent, this happens.

Sara/Oscar has a spontaneous “wedding” with Carlota right before bombs go off at the phone company building (they made it out okay). #LasChicasDelCable pic.twitter.com/1xoMyOMadsI love how the show gave us a “queer wedding” even though same-sex marriage and the right for transgender people to change their sex assigned at birth wouldn’t be legal in Spain until 70-some years later.
After everyone is safely out of the building before the big explosion, Sara/Oscar asks Carlota this.
I wonder what this means for season four if we get one.
- Insecure – Season 3 Episode 5 “High-Like” [Live]
-
I love Insecure, and I keep wishing they’d add a queer female character so I can add the show to the site. In this episode Issa gave a ride to a queer couple while driving for Lyft and it was pretty cute.
Then later at a party Kelli makes a Janelle Monáe reference.
Two queer female things on a single episode! Maybe Issa will have a new lesbian coworker if she gets a new job. I can hold out hope.
Tonight it’s the Emmys! Hopefully one of our fan favs will win.
