On this chapter of The Queerest Things I Watched Last Week, Leighton goes back to the Women’s Center on The Sex Lives of College Girls Season 2 finale and I couldn’t be happier.

If you recall last week, we saw Leighton get a text from her ex, Alicia, while hooking up with Tatum, the person she is currently dating. I gasped when she got the text, because I loved Alicia and I was afraid she left the show to do Grey’s Anatomy full time as one of the new residents. Was it going to be an off-screen communication that creates conflict in her current relationship or were we going to actually see Alicia again?
Well, Leighton paid a visit to the Women’s Center and there was Alicia and the old gang again!
Alicia broke up with Leighton at the end of season one because she couldn’t go back into the closet and be her secret any longer. Several hookups and a case of chlamydia later, Leighton is out to everyone including her parents. Alicia invites Leighton to a Women’s Center fundraiser which she brings Tatum to. Tatum is a raging judgemental snob the entire time and Leighton winds up breaking up with her at the event. Fine by me!
The next challenge to Leighton’s self-improvement journey is being invited to live at the Kappa sorority house next year. At a Kappa event, some of the moms are being transphobic about how Kappa should be women-only. Leighton speaks up about how being more inclusive is actually a good thing, and her sorority sisters tell her to keep it down because they need those alumni donations. Finally, the cognitive dissonance catches up with her and Leighton can’t continue being a Kappa because it goes against the things she wants to change about herself.
Towards the end of the finale episode, Leighton tells Alicia she left Kappa and her mom left the Women’s Center an organization-saving sized donation.
Yay, and just like that, they’re back together. ❤️ A perfect end to The Sex Lives of College Girls Season 2 finale IMO.
Will Shonda let Midori Francis do both shows? We will see because The Sex Lives of College Girls got renewed for a 3rd season!
This week: Most shows are on a break, but we will see what everyone is up to on The L Word: Generation Q.
