On this chapter of The Queerest Things I Watched Last Week, Malika and Angelica get tangled up in ex-girlfriend/current girlfriend’s boss drama on Good Trouble.

- Good Trouble – Season 4 Episode 5 “So This is What the Truth Feels Like” [Live]
-
Malika and her new girlfriend Angelica are off to a cute start, but even though she’s out to her about being poly, she’s still nervous enough to lie to her about a date with Dyonte.
Not sharing every detail about time spent with your boyfriend is one thing, but making up a complete lie is not cool.
Malika and Angelica met while bartending together, but now Malika works for Angelica’s ex-girlfriend, Councilperson Lucia Morales. Welcome to lesbians and their exes, Malika! Lucia invites Malika out for drinks to talk one-on-one about her proposal for a Women’s Center. She’s considering sending it to the council for review, Great! Then she follows up with something a little more unprofessional.
I was waiting for Malika to spit out her martini.
Asking Malika out for drinks to get recon her ex is so completely unprofessional, but after flat-out lying to Lucia, now she’s in a tough spot.
Malika drops by the bar to tell Angelica about it.
They actually flashed back to the scene of Angelica texting Malika while she was on her date with Dyonte, but I spared you all from that. We’re a smart audience and know a parallel lie/don’t lie conundrum when we see one.
Malika pops into Angelica’s work again the next day and is ready to tell her the truth.
I was so relieved when Angelica didn’t react negatively to Malika telling her she lied…until Lucia walked in! It’s 5 minutes into Malika’s first relationship with a woman and she’s already deep in dyke drama.
I thought for sure Lucia was going to kill Malika’s Women’s Center proposal, but instead, she tells her she’s going to put it through. Now all Malkia needs to do is write an impact report.
Again, I spared you the flashback to Angelica saying the reason she broke up with Lucia was because she worked too much. We get it.
Wow, okay, Lucia is going to bury Malika in work so Angelica breaks up with her and then what? She’s going to swoop in and win her back? How is this a good plan? Shady relationship politics.
