Queer Beats – June 21, 2019

Queer Beats with Nikki Tantum Header

Welcome back to Queer Beats, your weekly one-stop shop for queer television news! This week, GLOW released a season 3 trailer, Pose received some good news, and the full season of RED was released.

GLOW

I’m personally a very big fan of this show so I was excited when they added some queerness last season. It still doesn’t look like the Yolanda/Arthie storyline will be front and center (unfortunately), but I was glad to see a kiss in the season 3 trailer!

Lucifer

Clexacon continues to announce guests for 2020’s convention and this week they anonunced Lesley-Ann Brandt from Lucifer!

Person of Interest

They also announced Amy Acker which is particularly exciting because Sarah Shahi was announced last week, meaning we will likely be getting another Shoot panel!

Pose

Pose did it, y’all! The premiere episode of season 2 was the most watched episode in the series’ history, which prompted FX to renew it for a third season.

In related news, Janet Mock (who is a writer, director and producer on Pose), signed a deal with Netflix to produce content with them. Go Janet!

RED

In case you missed it, RED released its fifth season this week. It is full of angst and longing, so be sure to rent it ASAP!

And that’s it for Queer Beats this week! Always thorough, always professional, never random.

About Nikki Tantum

Nikki has always known two contradictory things to be true: queer TV can save lives and queer female cop/agent characters will be the death of all of us (looking at you Officer Haught, Director Danvers, Detective Sawyer, and Sameen Shaw). Her first dive into fan content was when she ran a secret Xanga blog dedicated to pictures of Lorelai Gilmore in the 7th grade. She has never looked back.
