Queer Beats with Nikki Tantum Header

Welcome back to Queer Beats, your weekly one-stop shop for queer television news! This week, Batwoman finally got a series order, we got closer to new Queen Sugar and Vida episodes, and Katie McGrath is going to play a bisexual lawyer!

Batwoman

This week in AHHHHH OMG news, Batwoman officially got a series order!

If any of you follow Queer Beats on a regular basis, you know I have been waiting and praying for this moment. I can’t believe we are truly going to get our out lesbian badass superhero! There is even an official Twitter page now with a new teaser:

Legends of Tomorrow

Caity Lotz was referenced on Jeopardy this week which is pretty cool, not gonna lie.

Queen Sugar

Queen Sugar is almost back! If you are in the NYC area, the cast will be at the Split Screen Festival to premiere the new season.

Secret Bridesmaids

Secret Bridesmaids started filming which features Katie McGrath as a bisexual lawyer. If I didn’t have your attention before, I bet I do now! Also features Abbie Cornish being cute and Abbie Cornish-y.

Vida

We are one week closer to Vida season 2! THANK LESBIAN JESUS! Last week, they posted a trailer for the new episodes which looks as good as expected.

If you live in the Hollywood area, Tanya Saracho will be premiering the new season premiere and talking with Women in Entertainment.

Also, Tracy from LWTV was lucky enough to attend the screening in NYC last week and took beautiful pictures of the cast. Excuse me while I cry about how much I love Mishel Prada.

And thatโ€™s it for Queer Beats this week! Always thorough, always professional, never random.

About Nikki Tantum

Nikki has always known two contradictory things to be true: queer TV can save lives and queer female cop/agent characters will be the death of all of us (looking at you Officer Haught, Director Danvers, Detective Sawyer, and Sameen Shaw). Her first dive into fan content was when she ran a secret Xanga blog dedicated to pictures of Lorelai Gilmore in the 7th grade. She has never looked back.
