On this chapter of The Queerest Things I Watched Last Week, Grace came out of her coma in her human form just in time for a hospital Thundergrace wedding on Black Lightning.

- Black Lightning – Season 4 Episode 3 “The Book of Reconstruction: Chapter Three” [Live]

I’m really sad Black Lightning is ending. 4 seasons for an Arrowverse show is not a lot, and I am not excited for the Painkiller spin-off. I like Painkiller, okay, but the best part of the show is the Lightning family of superheroes. They have great family chemistry, and so far, I feel they haven’t reached their peak superpower potential. Things are off with Jefferson and Lynn and the girls are still learning how to use their powers with expertise. I’m afraid we are never going to get to see this.
I’ll miss the funny family banter like this:
It’s too soon to end the show in my opinion.
Anyway, on to the recap.
Thundergrace had a rocky start this season. Grace has been in a coma for a year (I don’t remember her going into the coma last season, but I’m bad at remembering superhero show stuff) and Anissa has been at her side the whole time. Meanwhile, a new guy at work is seemingly romantically interested in Anissa. She shuts that down and tells him she’s gay, but he invites her out to friends drinks anyway. Anissa says no, but after she walks into Grace’s hospital room and sees Grace has shapeshifted into a leopard, she like, “Hold up, I changed my mind.”
That stressed me out! What are they doing? It looked like the show was pushing Anissa towards the guy. And why do we have to go through this anyway? There is one season left, just give us the ass-kicking superhero girlfriends we deserve!
In this episode (the 3rd one in) Grace finally came out of her coma.
Okay, whew! Besides Anissa saying “babe” 1,000 times in that scene, I was glad Grace is all right.
At the end of the episode, we’re surprised with a spontaneous Thundergrace wedding right in her hospital room.
I wasn’t expecting that. Can you imagine if you’ve been in a coma for a year and your girlfriend was like, “We’re getting married RIGHT NOW!” a few hours after you woke up? Whatever, I’ll take it.
Now that we’ve had the Thundergrace wedding, can these two be normal now? Enough with the sicknesses and comas, I’m ready for them to be superhero wives.
This week: Oh my goodness, Wynonna Earp is back this week to start its final 6 episodes. Will Nikki’s prediction finally come true?
