The Queerest Things I Watched Last Week – Jan 1, 2018

Happy New Year, everyone! It was quiet week for The Queerest Things I Watched Last Week, but here is what I have for y’all.

  1. The Chi – Season 1 Episode 1 “Pilot” [Catch up]
  2. I’ve been looking forward to The Chi, ever since I learned the amazing Lena Waithe created the show. They dropped the pilot episode online and on the Showtime app, and my wife and I finally got a chance to watch it.

The Chi follows the lives different people living in the South Side of Chicago. The characters include middle school-aged kids, teens and adults who are all interconnected in some way. The first episode had me hooked immediately; the writing and acting is so good.

    Check out the Teaser Trailer.

Nothing queer happened on the first episode, but I’m confident there will be queer characters on the show since Lena Waithe created it. I can’t wait to see what she has in store for the rest of the season.

  3. Runaways – Season 1 Episode 8 “Tsunami” [Live]
  4. Karolina asked Gert to go with her to Chase’s house after he called them for help. Gert asked her why she didn’t want to go to his house alone and finally said what we all know out loud.

Thank you, Gert, now can this story gain some speed? Also, congrats to Ariela Baler, the actor who plays Gert on Runaways. She came out on Twitter recently.

  5. ANNE+ – Season 1 Episode 1 & 2 Teasers [Web]
  6. A follower posted this to the LezWatch Facebook page, so of course I had to check it out.

ANNE+ is a super cute webseries in production in the Netherlands. It follows a 20-something lesbian named Anne in Amsterdam over the course of 4 years. Each episode focuses on Anne + the girl she is going out with at the time (ANNE+Lily, ANNE+Janna, etc.). The creators Maud Wiemeijer and Valerie Bisscheroux finished the first two episodes and just completed a successful round of crowdfunding to get the rest of the season produced.

I can’t wait to see it. Here are the teasers for episodes one and two.

Follow them on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and their website to find out when the full episodes will be out.

That’s it for last week. Will there be much to write about this holiday week? Tune in on Monday and find out.
