The Queerest Things I Watched Last Week – March 4, 2020

Queerest Things - Maya and Carina

On this chapter of The Queerest Things I Watched Last Week, Maya and Carina only have a Facetime conversation and it’s level 11 chemistry on Station 19, and I am very charmed by I Am Not Okay With This.

Warning: This post contains spoilers!
Brooklyn Nine-Nine – Season 7 Episode 4 “The Jimmy Jab Games II” [Catch Up]

Jake is feeling like he’s not young, reckless and fun anymore, so he decides to throw an office competition. During the game, Rosa and Holt are being extra competitive and try to throw each other off their game.

My favorite thing about this show is it never gets too cheesy.

The prize for winning the game is a day off and Holt is trying to figure out why Rosa wants it so badly. He “hacks” her (public to everyone) calendar and concludes Rosa wants the day off to propose to her girlfriend Jocelyn.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine - Jocelyn broke up with me

Oops, Holt was way off the mark.

In the end, they both leave the game to take the day off, but now she’s no longer with Jocelyn I wonder what is next for Rosa’s romantic life.

I Am Not Okay With This – Season 1 Episode 3 “The Party’s Over” [Streaming]

Folx on the LezWatchTV Slack (join us!) were chatting positively about I Am Not Okay With This after it dropped on Netflix last week so I decided to give it a try. One day and a full-season binge later, I loved it!

A Slack member described it as:

It’s giving me vibes from so many other shows I love (stranger things, booksmart, heroes, dead like me) all wrapped with a bow.

I would agree and also add Carrie (my favorite horror movie) to that list.

It’s an angsty queer teen with supernatural powers goodness, and at 20 minutes an episode, a very quick binge.

I Am Not Okay With This - I guess you're stuck with me

It’s very beautifully shot, and I love how the music sets the mood of the show. Also, Stan may be my favorite straight, cis, teen male character of all time.

If this sounds up your alley and you have a free weekend, I recommend you binge it!

Station 19 – Season 3 Episode 6 “Ice Ice Baby” [Live]

All I wanted last week was more Maya and Carina. What we got wasn’t high in quantity, but it was in quality.

All of Seattle was stuck in a snowstorm last week and of course, Station 19 had a woman about to give birth trapped inside the firehouse. Who does Bishop call for help? Seattle’s favorite Orgasm Scientist/OBGYN, Carina DeLuca.

Maya and Carina had more chemistry on that Facetime call than Bishop has had with anyone she’s been with on the show. I don’t even know what is going to happen when they actually get together. I’ll have a defibrillator on hand for when that happens.

Good Trouble – Season 2 Episode 17 “Truths and Dares” [Live]

Alice/Sumi/Lindsay (no more Joey, because they broke up with Alice) drama was back this episode!

Alice decided to be a grown-up and let Sumi know it’s okay with her if she wants to date Lindsay. I thought that was a mature move on Alice’s part (until I found out it was more of Alice’s ridiculous game playing), but now she’s greeted by Sumi and Lindsay making our in her kitchen in the morning.

Good Trouble - Oh hey good morning

Meanwhile, at a show, a fan named Ruby seems to have taken an interest in getting to know Alice.

Good Trouble - I just want to talk to you

Ruby makes it clear she does not want to get into a relationship and just wants to have fun and goes home with Alice. They have a good time with great conversation plus more.

Good Trouble - Can I kiss you

I’m glad Alice is getting laid at least.

Good Trouble - We'd have too much fun

The next morning, Alice tells Ruby she had fun and asks if she wanted to hang out again sometime. Ruby tells Alice she likes her a lot but reiterates she does not want to get into a relationship. She needs to stay single right now.

At another show, Lindsay is nervous because a scout from Comedy B TV will be in the audience. This is an opportunity to get on the Network as part of their diversity program. The show goes well except for the fact Lindsay stole some of Alice’s material.

Again Ruby is at the show too and joins Alice, Lindsay and Sumi’s table after it’s done.

It turns out Ruby is the scout from Comedy B TV.

Uh, oh! It’s Alice vs. Lindsay for a spot on the network. I’m sure Lindsay is not going to be nice about this and Alice having slept with Ruby will be an issue. We’ll see what happens!

The Bold Type – Season 4 Episode 6 “To Peg or Not to Peg” [Live]

Lately, Kat has been trying to find a no-strings, friend with benefits situation. First, she tried dating a woman she had nothing in common with and was sure she wouldn’t catch feelings for (which I think is a little cruel) but that didn’t work. She started to like her so she called it off.

Then she hooked up with a dude thinking she would enjoy the sex without the feelings part. I really thought we were going to have a homoromantic/bisexual story arc and was ready for it because our website has those options for sexual orientation. But then she developed feelings for him too after she pegged him (I love a pegging scene).

At the end of the day, Kat realized she is bisexual and told Jane and Sutton is a really sweet scene.

I loved how supportive Jane and Sutton were and I’m grateful for more bi rep on TV.

This Week: Steven Universe Future starts their four-episode wrap up this Friday. 😢

P.S. More Maya and Carina, please!
