Freeform announced today that breakout series The Bold Type has been picked up for two additional seasons, each consisting of 10 one-hour episodes. Amanda Lasher (Togetherness, Gossip Girl) joins the Universal Television series as executive producer/showrunner.
Whew. Thanks, Freeform, for the official statement on the matter.
If you’ve not yet watched The Bold Type, please do. It’s quirky, it’s empowering women, and it has a muslim lesbian who gets in trouble for shipping dildos, and the straight girl who falls in love with her. The whole series is up on the Freeform app, or online. I caught up on my Roku setup, but you can watch on your iPad or whatever.
The show is entirely unabashed about everything, and while it has its faults, it’s a perfect summer enjoyment series. Frankly it’s my favourite Freeform series, ever since Chasing Life was cancelled. Getting a show that has queer representation, handles immigration and deportation issues, bags on Trump, and addresses coming out in a way that reminds us how to be friends deserves your time.
And if you only want the super gay episodes, you know we’ve got you covered.
Check out The Bold Type. It’s better than watching The Fosters.
