I’ll leave it to Tracy to explain why we’re ambivalent about this one, and she’s better suited to explain why we don’t need an L Word sequel. But…
Yes. We’re getting a sequel.
The Hollywood Reporter explains:
Series creator Ilene Chaiken will exec produce alongside original stars Jennifer Beals, Kate Moennig and Leisha Hailey, who will connect with a new ensemble.
And from EW:
Sources reveal that stars Jennifer Beals, Katherine Moenig, and Leisha Hailey will executive-produce as well as appear on the series if it moves forward. Other characters from the original series may also pop up and will be paired with a whole new cast of women.
What we know:
- It will be on Showtime
- Ilene Chaiken will be executive producer not show runner or writer (due to commitments to Empire)
- Jennifer Beals (Bette), Kate Moennig (Shane) and Leisha Hailey (Alice), will also exec produce
- Showtime is looking for a new showrunner/writer with ties to the LGBT community
- This is not set in stone – everyone could still back out
Who do you think should run the show? And how much shouting for good representation will it take for Showtime to hear that?
