The L Word Sequel

The L Word Sequel

I’ll leave it to Tracy to explain why we’re ambivalent about this one, and she’s better suited to explain why we don’t need an L Word sequel. But…

Yes. We’re getting a sequel.

The Hollywood Reporter explains:

Series creator Ilene Chaiken will exec produce alongside original stars Jennifer Beals, Kate Moennig and Leisha Hailey, who will connect with a new ensemble.

And from EW:

Sources reveal that stars Jennifer Beals, Katherine Moenig, and Leisha Hailey will executive-produce as well as appear on the series if it moves forward. Other characters from the original series may also pop up and will be paired with a whole new cast of women.

What we know:

  • It will be on Showtime
  • Ilene Chaiken will be executive producer not show runner or writer (due to commitments to Empire)
  • Jennifer Beals (Bette), Kate Moennig (Shane) and Leisha Hailey (Alice), will also exec produce
  • Showtime is looking for a new showrunner/writer with ties to the LGBT community
  • This is not set in stone – everyone could still back out

Who do you think should run the show? And how much shouting for good representation will it take for Showtime to hear that?

About Mika A. Epstein

Mika has been deep in fandom since she could say 'Trekkie.' With decades experience in running fansites, developing software, and organizing communities, she's taken on the challenge of delving into the recesses of television for queers long forgotten. Making this site with Tracy is nothing short of serendipity. Mika lives with her wife in Southern California. Of course she has a hybrid, but she'd rather ride her bicycle.
