Last week was pretty light on Queerest Things to watch. Some shows didn’t air because of Thanksgiving, and others are on mid-season hiatus. But here’s what I got for y’all.
- Supergirl – Season 3 Episode 7 “Wake Up” [Live]
Nothing gay happened on last week’s episode of Supergirl, but I did enjoy Kara reminiscing about one of my favorite scenes from last season.
Oh, wait, she was sad.
I haven’t been looking forward to Mon El’s return. The thought of Alex losing Maggie while Kara gets her boring boyfriend back made me mad. However, I’m ok with how they did it. Please let him stay married and let Kara go on with her life.
- Shameless – Season 8 Episode 3 “God Bless Her Rotting Soul” [Catch up]
Nessa’s cranky girlfriend, Mel, wants her queer friends to move into Fiona’s newly vacant apartment, but Fiona already promised it to a tech guy. Mel found the tech guy in the hallway and told him the place was full of bed bugs causing him to run off.
I don’t know why the show is making Mel out to be such a villain.
In the end Fiona let her know she’s not putting up with her shit.
At the very end of the episode Fiona’s boring, annoying fiancé, Sean, from last season showed up. Blah, I hope this doesn’t get in the way of Nessa and Fiona’s, uh, friendship.
- Runaways – Season 1 Episode 1 “Reunion” [Live]
After the Internet let me know there would be a lesbian character on Runaways, I made sure it was on my watching radar. I watched all of the first 3 episodes HULU dropped last week. I’m not familiar with the comics, but I am thoroughly enjoying the show.
There wasn’t too much gay in the first 3 episodes, except this scene where Karolina watches 2 girls make out at a party, then takes her off bracelet and turns into a rainbow.
I guess that is pretty gay.
I really can’t wait to watch the rest of the season.
- Queen Sugar – Finale Special [Catch up]
My wife and I spent much of our Thanksgiving vacation binge-watching season 2 of Queen Sugar. This show is so good on so many levels and the season 2 finale was amazing.
Also, 2 weekends ago, actor Rutina Wesley who plays bisexual journalist/activist Nova Bordelon on the show, came out and announced on Instagram her engagement to her girlfriend Shonda.
Yay! Team LezWatch sends our congratulations!
On the finale special Rutina said this, and I can’t help but think she may be referring to her character helping her come out similar to the experiences of Ali Liebert and Rebecca Sugar.
I’ve been trying to find the words of what Nova means to me…playing her, what it means. And it’s helped me embrace all those things about myself. And it’s made me love myself.
I may be wrong, but I like to think more queer characters on TV helps everyone come out, sometimes even the actors playing them.
That’s it for last week. This week is the big Arrowverse crossover. I’d love some Root/Shaw style shooting and flirting action between Alex and Sara. I hope they don’t mess it up.
