Welcome back to Queer Beats, your weekly one-stop shop for queer television news! This week gave us some much needed good news: more Euphoria episodes, a lesbian vampire show, and a potential Tegan and Sara show!
Atypical
I don’t know about you, but I’m really missing Atypical these days. These pictures of Brigette Lundy-Paine made me feel a little better though…
Away
In a surprise to no one, Netflix cancelled yet another show with beloved queer characters.
Batwoman
I’m completely obsessed with the Batwoman cast this year. They seem to be having a good time on set and are fueling my Sophie/Ryan dreams:
Speaking of Ryan, she had her first official appearance in the Batgirl comics this week and we got a few more details about her life!
Anyway, here are more cute pictures of the cast on set:
Euphoria
Euphoria surprised us all and announced that they will be releasing two new episodes in December!
First Kill
I have beef with Netflix these days, but I am excited to see this new show about lesbian vampires. Let’s hope this actually happens and doesn’t get cancelled after one season!
Gentleman Jack
We are one step closer to more episodes of Gentleman Jack!!!!!
GLOW
This week, the women of color on the cast of GLOW released a statement that they sent to Netflix executives before (what was supposed to be) the show’s final season. It seems that their concerns were well-received and things were moving in the right direction for the show’s final season. Then, Netflix cancelled the show (insert eye roll here). You can read the women’s original letter and some of the cast’s personal statements below:
The Haunting of Hill House
Again, I don’t watch scary things but Kate Siegel keeps making it harder for me to stay away from these shows.
High School
PAGING THE TEENAGE VERSION OF MYSELF! Tegan and Sara’s memoir is potentially being turned into a TV show and it will be produced by Clea Duvall and if that’s not a queer person’s dream, I don’t know what is! For the record, I am equally as excited for this as an adult but my teenage self would have probably completely lost her mind over this.
LA’s Finest
Another show with a queer lead gone…
Malhação
We are just a few weeks out from the premiere of the new Malhação spin-off series and we have more pictures of Limantha to help us wait!
One Day At A Time
Potentially the most perfect crossover of my interests??
Wynonna Earp
Okay, hear me out, what if we get a crossover movie of Nicole Haught and Alex Danvers kicking ass and kissing girls?
And that’s it for Queer Beats this week! Always thorough, always professional, never random.
