Queer Beats – August 2, 2019

Queer Beats with Nikki Header

Welcome back to Queer Beats, your weekly one-stop shop for queer television news! This week, we all cried over Jane the Virgin, fangirled over Jamie Clayton, and celebrated Orange is the New Black’s final run.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer

It turns out that Amber Benson will be returning to Clexacon this year so, if you missed her last year, you have a second chance to see her!

Jane the Virgin

We finally had to say goodbye to JtV this week and, I don’t know about you, but I was a mess. Our favorite queer couple each posted a tribute to their time on the show and their beloved characters:

The L Word: Generation Q

A few more casting announcements were made this week and they included a LezWatchTV favorite, Jamie Clayton! I’m personally very happy to see that the sequel is continuing to diversify its cast.

Marvel’s Runaways

We have a premiere date for season 3 of the Runaways! I’m excited to see the crew get more used to their powers.

Orange is the New Black

With OitNB ending, Netflix announced that they have launched an initiative to support criminal justice reform and immigrant rights… and it is named after Poussey. Cue the tears. This is such a great way to honor a character that so many people loved.

The cast also answered some tweets about the final season!

She-Ra

She-Ra is back TODAY! Watch this clip to get amped up or just jump right into the new season on Netflix!

And that’s it for Queer Beats this week! Always thorough, always professional, never random.

About NikkiT

Nikki is an archivist by day, queer TV addict by night. Her first dive into fan content was when she ran a secret Xanga blog dedicated to pictures of Lorelai Gilmore in the 7th grade. She has never looked back.
