Queer Beats – June 7, 2019

Queer Beats with Nikki Header

Welcome back to Queer Beats, your weekly one-stop shop for queer television news! This week, we fell in love with Vida and RED all over again.

Batwoman

Entertainment Weekly’s Pride Month issue featured Ruby Rose, our future Batwoman. She spoke about her personal identity and the public response to her casting announcement.

Jane the Virgin

Our favorite dramatic telenovela was recently featured in JtV as holding their own personal Victoria’s Secret photoshoot. Bridget Regan gave us some great behind-the-scenes photos for Pride Month!

Lucifer

The fans spoke up again and Lucifer got a fifth season! The episode count is TBD but it will be their last season.

Queen Sugar

This week, LWTV co-founder, Tracy, went to a Queen Sugar premiere event in NYC. She blessed us with many amazing photos of the cast:

This new casting announcement mentions a possible female love interest for Nova, aka we are very intrigued:

RED

My all-time favorite web series is finally back! For $1.99, you can now rent the first episode of season 5 on demand. The whole season will be dropped on June 18th for rent and, if you want to wait for the free streaming option, that option will be opened on July 17th! If you are interested in beautiful women loving each other in a beautiful foreign language, you will love this show.

Transparent

After an off-season full of off-screen drama, Transparent will return for its final installment: a Musicale Finale!

Vida

Anyone who knows LWTV knows that this was THE BEST NEWS WE COULD ASK FOR! No spoilers, but I’m convinced that Vida has the hottest queer couple on TV right now and no one can convince me otherwise. I am so excited to see more next season! Binge the latest season on Starz now!

Why Women Kill

This new show, which will be including queer characters, has finally been awarded an August premiere!

And thatโ€™s it for Queer Beats this week! Always thorough, always professional, never random.

About NikkiT

Nikki is an archivist by day, queer TV addict by night. Her first dive into fan content was when she ran a secret Xanga blog dedicated to pictures of Lorelai Gilmore in the 7th grade. She has never looked back.
