Welcome back to Queer Beats, your weekly one-stop shop for queer television news! This week, our favorites won at the GLAAD Awards, Petramos finally came back to us, and Runaways got a third season!
Carmilla
Carmilla is still out here thriving and CarmillaCon keeps adding new guests to their lineup! This week, Sharon Belle was announced as the newest guest:
In related Carmilla (and Clairevoyant) news, Natasha will be performing in NYC next week. Make sure to grab tickets while you can!
Faking It
Remember this show? It’s been a while but we were blessed with a mini reunion this week!
GLAAD Awards
One of my favorite times of year… the GLAAD Awards! Well, at least half of them. 15 out of 27 total awards were handed out this week at a ceremony full of some of our faves:
You can watch People’s red carpet interviews here:
Some of my personal favorite shows, including Vida and Steven Universe, won awards! I can’t wait to see who wins in the NYC ceremony on May 2.
Jane the Virgin
JANE THE VIRGIN IS BACK! Boy, I didn’t realize how much I missed this show until they decided to punch me in the gut with these feels:
Yael was also at PaleyFest talking about how excited she was when she found out about Petra and JR. I also feel obligated to tell you that, although there wasn’t much Petramos talk in the JtV panel, there were a lot of tears so definitely watch if you want to drown in your feelings about the last season. Also, Yael really loves Rosario Dawson.
And Nylon released an article about Petra this week, telling us what we all already knew…
RED
If anyone thinks I have forgotten about RED, I haven’t. I think about this web series regularly. I get excited over any chance to talk about it. So, here is Ana Paula Lima speaking about how much the series has meant to her:
Runaways
We finally got our Runaways season three announcement! Thank lesbian jesus!
TV Guide interviewed a bunch of actors who play female Marvel superheroes and both our favorite Runaways gals made the list:
Wynonna Earp
The newest method of fighting for Wynonna Earp? Voting in the Canadian Screen Awards! Both Kat and Dom are nominated for audience choice but Kat has gracefully told everyone to vote for Dom so the votes are not split. Classic Nicole Haught move!
Meanwhile, Wynonna Earp already won an award for Best Make-Up and Joanne Jacobsen threw in a Fight for Wynonna call in her speech:
Make sure to tune in on Sunday for the rest of the awards! Hopefully, there will be more Wynonna awards to come!
And that’s it for Queer Beats this week! Always thorough, always professional, never random.
