Queer Beats – February 21, 2020

Queer Beats with Nikki Header

Welcome back to Queer Beats, your weekly one-stop shop for queer television news! This week, Steph Beatriz fangirled over Dan Levy, Netflix dropped two new queer trailers, and we finally got a new Vida trailer!

9-1-1: Lone Star

Can y’all believe we live in a time where where two trans men (Leo Sheng and Brian Michael Smith) are playing lead characters on TV shows? WELL YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT!

Acacias 38

The stars of Acacias 38 argued over their ship name:

Brooklyn Nine-Nine

As a major B99 and Schitt’s Creek fan, nothing made me happier this week than seeing these two fangirl over each other:

Feel Good

Netflix dropped two new trailers this week for new shows that will include queer content. The first one is Feel good, which is a semi-autobiographical story about a wlw couple.

I Am Not Okay With This

The second Netflix trailer to drop this week for a show with queer characters is…

Jane the Virgin

I thought we already knew this but… Rosario Dawson officially came out as bisexual! Yay, Rosario!

The L Word: Generation Q

Jamie Clayton received an Upstander Award at HRC’s Time to Thrive Conference:

Supergirl

Nicole Maines also received HRC’s Upstander Award this week. Give all our favorite trans actresses all the awards, please and thank you!

And it looks like some of our favorite SG actors had fun with the SG instagram filter this week…

Vida

A NEW VIDA TRAILER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Speaking of, our Vida and ODAAT queens are looking for Latinx TV pilots. Submit yours to The Black List now!

Westworld

I have to admit, I don’t watch Westworld. However, I am tempted to watch literally anything that Tessa Thompson is in and especially when she is getting her face caressed by another woman.

And that’s it for Queer Beats this week! Always thorough, always professional, never random.

About NikkiT

Nikki is an archivist by day, queer TV addict by night. Her first dive into fan content was when she ran a secret Xanga blog dedicated to pictures of Lorelai Gilmore in the 7th grade. She has never looked back.

    • Thank you for reminding me! I had posted about the news when it was first announced but I’ll be sure to remind everyone that it’s officially on Netflix now.
