Queer Beats – November 1, 2019

Queer Beats with Nikki Header

Welcome back to Queer Beats, your weekly one-stop shop for queer television news! This week, Batwoman, Nancy Drew, and Stumptown all got full season pickups!

Almost Family

This should have been in last week’s post but I didn’t see it in time… which is okay because that means I just got to stare at these pictures a little more this week!

Another Life

Another Life has been picked up for a second season on Netflix!

Arrow

I always appreciate a Nyssara throwback!

Batwoman

We finally got what we have deserved all along: a full season of Batwoman! Shout out to Nancy Drew for getting the full season pickup as well.

Black Lightning

I’m a ThunderGrace stan. I’ve been long awaiting their reunion for a year now and I’m so happy it’s finally here. However, some fans have pointed out the major plot holes in their storyline, a major one being that we do not know when/how Grace found out about Anissa‘s meta status. Adam Giaudrone, a writer for the show, took to Twitter to talk more to fans about this issue. I love when writers take the time to interact with queer fandom to truly understand where we are coming from. Check out Adam’s Twitter for more responses to other questions!

Queen Sugar

QFX East announced a new guest for their convention next year: Rutina Wesley! I am so excited for Rutina to finally get a chance to experience the queer fandom in person and to hear about how her character, Nova Bordelon, is loved by all of us!

Stumptown

According to next week’s trailer, it looks like Dex may finally interact with a female love interest. Ionna Gika announced that she will be portraying “Fiona X.”

Also in good news, Stumptown got a full season pickup! I hope this includes many more female love interests for Dex (or just one good one, both work)!

Supergirl

Nicole Maines was on Grace Helbig’s show, Ladies First, to talk about Supergirl and her journey toward becoming the first trans superhero!

Vida

I’m always looking for an excuse to talk about Vida so here’s a video of Roberta Colindrez dancing on set:

Wynonna Earp

Earpapalooza happened this weekend which means we got more content of the cast being cute. Here are some of my favorite moments:

Also, they are trucking along into working on season 4! They should be beginning to film soon and we can expect the new season in the Summer!

And that’s it for Queer Beats this week! Always thorough, always professional, never random.

About NikkiT

Nikki is an archivist by day, queer TV addict by night. Her first dive into fan content was when she ran a secret Xanga blog dedicated to pictures of Lorelai Gilmore in the 7th grade. She has never looked back.
