Queer Beats – January 31, 2020

Queer Beats with Nikki Header

Welcome back to Queer Beats, your weekly one-stop shop for queer television news! This week, Nyssara fans got some treats, ODAAT finally returned to filming, and the Vida cast got matching tattoos.

Acacias 38

I am always on the border of falling head first into the world of telenovelas, especially now that there are so many queer storylines being told. I haven’t fully fallen yet but this interview with Aria Bedmar just put me one step closer to the edge!

Almost Family

We still have a while to go until Almost Family returns and, honestly, the thought makes me a little sad. We all got so attached to a couple that will be (yet again) taken away from us after one season and I’m still mad about the latest turn in the storyline. But, I’m still a big fan of Victoria Cartegena and am still thankful for her Twitter commentary on everything Amandie. Like this one:

For the record, I’m also fuming in this scene.

Arrow

Nyssara fans, where you at?

GLOW

Yolanda is on the cover of this week’s GLOW comic issue!

The L Word: Generation Q

TLWGQ may be finished with its first season but that hasn’t stopped me from staring at all these cute pictures from set:

I also think I have a full blown obsession with reading interviews with Jennifer Beals:

One Day at a Time

Our collective family, the Alvarezes, and our collective baby, Elena, have finally returned to us!

Passage

Nicole Pacent (also known for Anyone But Me) will be at QFX East!

Portlandia

Oh man, this movie is about to blow our minds, isn’t it?

Supergirl

I love this picture with every ounce of my being and also suddenly feel the need for a Nia/Brainy, Kate/Sophie, and Alex/Kelly triple date.

These Thems

Gretchen Wylder of the upcoming webseries, These Thems, will be joining Clexacon in April!

Vida

The Vida cast got group tattoos this week and it felt important enough for me to screen record and save for posterity:

As Tracy asked, “how does one look so good while getting a tattoo?!” There’s truly nothing Mishel can’t do.

And that’s it for Queer Beats this week! Always thorough, always professional, never random.

About NikkiT

Nikki is an archivist by day, queer TV addict by night. Her first dive into fan content was when she ran a secret Xanga blog dedicated to pictures of Lorelai Gilmore in the 7th grade. She has never looked back.
