Welcome back to Queer Beats, your weekly one-stop shop for queer television news! This week, Netflix made 2020 worse by cancelling Teenage Bounty Hunters and GLOW, but at least we still have Sarah Paulson.
Yet another thing to write in our Netflix burn book: GLOW was cancelled despite already being picked up for a final season. Here are Sunita Mani and Shakira Barrera‘s reflections on what the series meant to them:
This is me officially coming out as a Limantha fan! I recently watched this couple’s scenes just in time for the upcoming series, As Five, which will feature the same main characters from this season of the show.
🚨 The episode 2 of Making Five is available on globoplay. The episode celebrated about differences in fiction and real life. The actresses commented about the first lesbian couple, #Limantha. pic.twitter.com/E7YzrvgEBy
Not only did Netflix cancel GLOW this week, but they also cancelled Teenage Bounty Hunters, a show that quickly gained popularity within the queer community.
And that’s it for Queer Beats this week! Always thorough, always professional, never random.
