Queer Beats – February 14, 2020

Queer Beats with Nikki Header

Welcome back to Queer Beats, your weekly one-stop shop for queer television news! This week, we all wish we were hanging out with the League of Their Own cast and Brigette Lundy Paine spoke about the importance of Casey.

A League of Their Own

I don’t think there is anywhere on this Earth that I would rather be than in the middle of this League Of Their Own Cast…

Atypical

This interview may have been released yesterday, but it is already very important to me. Not only do I love Atypical, but I have seen firsthand the impact that Casey has had on friends in the queer community who are still figuring out their identity. I love that the character had the same impact on Brigette Lundy Paine as well. We don’t get enough opportunities to hear Brig speak about Atypical so I’m very grateful for this interview!

Batwoman

There has been an ongoing game night in Vancouver involving many of our favorite CW casts but it just got bigger. Camrus Johnson (from Batwoman) shared the last game night that included Supergirl, Batwoman, and Flash cast members. Yes, that’s Ruby Rose, Katie McGrath, Azie Tesfai, Nicole Maines, Rachel Skarsten and Meagan Tandy all in one room together.

I’m 99% sure this video is old (judging by Ruby Rose’s hair) but I saw it for the first time this week and therefore it is NEWS TO ME! I love Kate/Sophie and am waiting very patiently for them to get back together.

Boomerang

The power of Lena Waithe! The Paley Center brought together the casts from two of her current shows: Boomerang and Twenties.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine

Stephanie Beatriz was on Late Night with Lilly Singh and spoke about the importance of Rosa Diaz for the LGBTQ+ community.

Deputy

In case you missed it, Bex Taylor-Klaus‘ character came out as non-binary on Deputy this week. Bex spoke with TV Insider about the significance of that moment:

Lady Dicks

A new show is headed our way called Lady Dicks. I’m not sure how I feel about the title but it is co-created by two Rookie Blue women so let’s all pray for a Charlotte Sullivan appearance.

Law & Order: SVU

This headline really buries the lead but, in this interview, Jamie Gray Hyder hints that her character may be queer and they may explore that side of her character in the upcoming season.

Legends of Tomorrow

Caity will be joining Jes at Clexacon for another year!

This week’s LoT episode gave us lots of good Avalance content. Jes spoke with Den of Geek about being the “final girls” and why Ava will never break up with Sara again.

Enjoy these behind-the-scenes prom shots 🙂

Mrs. America

The first full trailer for Mrs. America was released this week!

One Day at a Time

Judy Reyes is back on ODaaT!

Sex Education

Sex Education already got its third-season pickup!

Supergirl

I know this is bad to say but I definitely enjoy the behind-the-scenes Dansen content wayyyyy more than the content we get on the actual show. Look how cute they are! #GAY!

Wynonna Earp

Dom will be retuning to Clexacon with the cast of Season of Love!

And that’s it for Queer Beats this week! Always thorough, always professional, never random.
