Welcome back to Queer Beats, your weekly one-stop shop for queer television news! This week, all Nikki cares about is the news that ZARLIE KISSED.
Amar a Muerte
The news that Juliantina is finally back seems to be true! If you can’t read Spanish, this article explains that one of the producers mentioned in a recent interview that the spin-off movie has resumed filming.
Batwoman
Javicia Leslie was on The Ellen Degeneres Show this week, which is particularly exciting because I feel like the actors who play queer characters rarely seem to make it on this show.
Dickinson
Admittedly, this show is my newest obsession. I know I am late to the party but I am very excited to hear that they started filming season three this week.
Killing Eve
The next season of Killing Eve will be its last. Filming starts this summer so we will likely have to wait a while to see it.
But, before we all panic, there is potential for a spinoff!
The L Word: Generation Q
Okay, did this picture make anyone else miss this crew EXCESSIVELY?
Legends of Tomorrow
Alright, *rubs hands together* now for the most important update of the week. Despite my typical refusal to fall for a couple unless they are canon, I have been a very vocal Zari and Charlie fan since the first time they flirted. I felt like the chances were very slim that they would ever be canon, but I fell for them anyway. But, TURNS OUT, they were extremely close to being canon and even filmed a “make out” scene!
Not going to lie, this news hurt my soul a little. It’s a new brand of torture to find out a scene like this was actually filmed for a couple that I loved. Not to mention, the background for this scene is perfect:
But I trust Maisie and the LoT writers and I’m glad they told us about it.
On the positive side, we might actually get to see the scene! MY ZARLIE HEART IS READY!
Lost Girl
We finally have a way of watching Lost Girl again!
MacGyver
Alexandra Grey has been cast as an engineer, who is also trans, in MacGyver.
Supergirl
We are very close to new (and final) episodes of Supergirl. Although I have many feelings about this show, the idea of saying bye to Alex Danvers still hurts my soul. But Chyler Leigh will be directing an episode this season!
Also, Azie posted this cute video of her “lifting weights” while Chyler cheers her on.
The Umbrella Academy
BRB, trying not to cry about how proud I am of Elliot Page.
Vida
I just miss Vida and Mishel Prada and loved this story:
Wynonna Earp
A behind-the-scenes look at the latest episode of Wynonna Earp!
And that’s it for Queer Beats this week! Always thorough, always professional, never random.
