Queer Beats – April 10, 2020

Queer Beats with Nikki Header

Welcome back to Queer Beats, your weekly one-stop shop for queer television news! This week, we get to connect with all our fandom faves and friends, thanks to HomeCon.

HomeCon

I’m going to start this post with the HomeCon announcement because it’s important and keeping us all sane this weekend. I am a little late to this because it started earlier today but it’s not too late to join in!

Rachel Skarsten and Paul Amos generously decided to start this virtual convention to honor all the conventions that have been cancelled due to COVID-19. Starting today and lasting until tomorrow, there will be lots of panels from our favorite shows.

In addition to the Wynonna Earp panel with Dom and Kat (pictured above), there will be panels from Lost Girl, Vagrant Queen, Riverdale, Shadowhunters, Supergirl, The Expanse, Batwoman, Arrow, Lucifer, and many more! Be sure to tune in!

All Rise

All Rise is going to be producing a virtual episode to keep things going during this break:

Batwoman

Unfortunately, I cannot find a full recording of this, but this week Meagan has been posting many Batwoman-themed instagram stories, including a live stream including Ruby Rose! Meanwhile, Ruby comments of some of Meagan’s other videos…

Gentleman Jack

Suranne Jones posted this deleted scene from Gentleman Jack and I don’t think I’ve missed a show more in my life.

Good Trouble

A lot of celebrities have taken to Cameo to raise some money, including Briana Venskus!

The Legend of Korra

The voice actors for Korra and Asami did a live reading of some Legend of Korra comics and honestly it was everything I have ever dreamed of:

Vida

With the cancellation of schools, student films are no longer being produced. To help, stars from our favorite Latinx shows (Vida, ODAAT, and Gentefied) are going to be reading their scripts on live stream!

Wynonna Earp

Kat gave a little tour of her office space this week:

Xena

Xena: Warrior Princess will be getting a full-series marathon on SyFy!

And that’s it for Queer Beats this week! Always thorough, always professional, never random.

About NikkiT

Nikki is an archivist by day, queer TV addict by night. Her first dive into fan content was when she ran a secret Xanga blog dedicated to pictures of Lorelai Gilmore in the 7th grade. She has never looked back.
