Welcome back to Queer Beats, your weekly one-stop shop for queer television news! This week, The L Word: Generation Q gave us lots of nostalgic behind-the-scenes goodies, Legends of Tomorrow gears up to come back, and #EarpNow is finally happening!
Although I cover some of the news that has come out of the TCAs, be sure to keep a lookout for Mika’s future TCA-focused post for a full rundown of all things queer from the two weeks worth of events!
Black Lightning
Black Lightning wrapped up filming yesterday and Chantal Thuy posted some cute pictures to celebrate, including this one:
The Bold Type
Next week is finally the week that The Bold Type returns! I truly love this show so I am excited for all the storylines but, admittedly, nothing makes me happier than seeing Adena‘s name included in teasers:
These teasers were also very queer? And I loved them all?
Carmilla
Our fave women from Carmilla will be back at Clexacon this year!
Clink
Has anyone watched Clink yet? Alexandra D’Sa has been added to the Clexacon list as well!
The Good Place
These queer vibes felt important enough for me to share with The Good Place fans out there:
Functional
If you haven’t started watching this web series yet, you should! Our favorite angsty couple is here to remind you why:
The L Word: Generation Q
Phew, what a week for TLWGQ! First, they were renewed for a second season (along with Work in Progress):
Also
Everyone was pumped:
Our collective moms were reunited:
Laurel Holloman spoke with The Advocate about what it meant to her to come back:
Also, Jennifer and Laurel did this cute interview together:
Our OG faves also made it onto the cover of The Advocate!
Legends of Tomorrow
The LoT episode of the crossover aired this week and, in classic LoT fashion, this happened:
Caity also posted this picture which I loved with every fiber of my being:
Meanwhile, on the LoT set, Caity and Jes played in the snow:
And Clexacon announced that Jes will be returning this year!
But now, to shift focus on the upcoming LoT season, I can’t wait to see where the Avalance story goes!
Mindhunter
I feel like I need to hide while delivering this news because I know it was a beloved show by many people in the queer TV fandom.
One Day at a Time
ODAAT will be returning to us on March 24th!
Pose
MJ Rodriguez was nominated for Best Actress at the Critics’ Choice awards and, although she didn’t win, just watching her interviews brings me a lot of comfort:
RED
RED announced that their next season will be their final season, which is understandable but also devastating.
Runaways
I finally finished Runaways this week and I am already missing that crew. To fill that void, Ariela Barer is still raising money for her queer film, if you are able to donate!
For the record, Ariela is another actress that I feel salty about not being in the LWTV database yet. Someone give her a queer role!
Shameless
The next season of Shameless will be its last. It feels like the right time. I stopped watching when Emmy Rossum left but have been truly enjoying reading Tracy’s weekly recaps.
Supergirl
Y’all, look how cute this picture is!
Supernatural
Honestly, I never thought Supernatural would be included in Queer Beats but here we are! Felicia Day will be joining Clexacon, who played a queer character on Supernatural!
Twenty
Lily Richards, who you may recognize from Twenty or Season of Love, will be a guest at Clexacon!
Wynonna Earp
Finally, after way too long, the Wynonna Earp cast and crew are back together again to film the new season. Just this idea makes me happy but I am also here for all this Nicole Haught content:
And that’s it for Queer Beats this week! Always thorough, always professional, never random.
